At McGruder Wellness Initiative, LLC, we offer five forms of therapy; Talk, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), and Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy. All are geared towards success and relief. It's a time for you to heal and you are worth that time.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

According to the EMDR International Association, "EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness for trauma. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or homework between sessions. EMDR, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. Part of the therapy includes alternating eye movements, sounds or taps. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies".

Brainspotting

"Where you look, affects how you feel" is the guiding principle of BSP. It has been proven that where individuals look connects to a place within the subcortical brain regarding whatever event they are working on processing. This form of therapy helps connect both brain and body regarding areas that are holding you back and alleviates the hold it has over you. As described by Brainspotting.com, 'The goal of BSP is to bypass the conscious, neocortical thinking to access the deeper, subcortical emotional and body-based parts of the brain'.

Talk Therapy

Talk therapy is an opportunity to process events through communication and making connections. I see individuals through a holistic and humanistic lens, that allows them to respect and honor their human experience. As someone becomes aware of how events have shaped them, they then get to determine whether they want to continue that behavior or make changes. I believe that people do what they do, until it doesn't work for them. That's when I meet them and work on healing.

Heart Centered Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a highly effective treatment model that addresses body, mind, and spirit called Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy. Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy leads clients down their own profoundly exciting road to self-discovery.

While hypnosis and hypnotherapy are in the same “family,” they are very different from each other. The core difference is that hypnotherapy is an internationally-recognized therapy technique for treating mental and psychosomatic issues. It uses hypnosis to break through to the subconscious to better understand the foundation of the issues a client is facing.
